And now a word from our sponsor
It has been a whirlwind the last few weeks. Work has been keeping me oh so busy. I never realized how much I relied on a co-teacher. I am hoping my enrollment in my class goes up soon so that I can have another adult with me on a full time basis. But as luck would have it, one of my full time students is moving to a new school in two weeks. OY!!!
Let’s see, what’s going on with me….well, Steve’s birthday is Monday and I need to go find his present this weekend. I have been searching from the phone, but I am going to need to hit the stores to have any real luck. I hope I can find the one thing that I am looking for. I do have a backup plan though, should I not be able to get the item that I am truly seeking.
OH, I thought I might have been dying this last week. Well not really, but my loving hubby has been spoiling me rotten lately. It started about a week and a half ago, when a package was delivered for me at work. I open it and find that he had ordered me a perfume gift set. Now bless his heart, he got the right name, but not the right brand. I was going to keep it, but once I sprayed it, he and I both agreed that it was rather nasty…kind of like old lady soapy smell. Ewwwwwww. But still he was so sweet to do something like that.
Then Thursday, I come home for lunch and he tells me that the birthday present he got me has arrived and I really need to have it right now because I can use it. I had told him that I wanted to wait until my birthday, but he was pretty adamant about me having this gift right now. So I allow him to give it to me, and low and behold it is a new monitor for my computer. Holy crow was I shocked. See I had this monstrosity of a monitor that was dying and I have been drooling over LCD monitors for about a year. So you know what was in the box…a top of the line LCD monitor!
But wait, there is more! So I headed back to work, all kinds of grinning and happy, come home and find that he has enrolled me in the Clay Aiken fan club. Now this confuses me, because while I am happy, I can’t figure out why he did this. I look at the website and see that Clay is going to be in concert here in Portland. Now that really makes me happy and I am thinking that come payday I have to get tickets! He tells me to check my email and well guess what? Yep, TICKETS!!!! By enrolling me in the CAFC he was able to preorder tickets so I have the chance to buy tickets on pre-sale!
Last night we went to see Lion King at the Keller Auditorium. Holy crow was that phenomenal! I got a fancy program and I also got a pen and a snow globe!
So yeah I have been completely spoiled lately. Thank you hunny I love you!!!!!
Today I am going to get over to school and set up for the next two week theme. But sitting here is not getting this day started, so I had better take off.
Catch you all later
Ah the summer wind
OK so here we are at the last few weeks of summer. The girls and I will not be going back to their little camp thing anymore this summer. Why you ask? Well let me tell you. Yesterday I went to drop them off and got handed that letter that no parent/adult wants to get from a school/camp whatever. "Dear Parents, We have had a case of head lice reported to our facility!" Come on, raise of hands...anyone here hate those as much as I do?
So anyway, I ask the ladies at the sign in table, would they be checking all the kids this morning. I was informed that I could check the girls if I wanted before I left. Umm so that didn't sit right with me. I then ask when did the outbreak occur. I wanted a point of reference for incubation on the lice. Answer? We don't know...you can talk to the lead staff member about that. So I trapse into the gym to find the lead. Grabbed the wrong lady, but she adivised that the girls put their hair up under thier hats. So I did this, and then found the lady I needed to talk to. I asked her about the information and when the lice was discovered. She said she didn't know, all they knew was that a parent had called and said that their child attended that camp and that they had lice. LOVELY....so far all we know the kid could have been there untreated. Now I would like to think that if one was to call the camp to notify, that they would have treated said child and kept them home till they were all clear. But I can't take that chance.
The girls walked up to me and asked me why they had to wear their hair that way. I told them why, praying they would want to leave. Well Hallelujah they didn't want to stay and we were out of there. I stopped by the ladies again to confirm that they would be cleaning everything with bleach and water. Again I got the answer of I don't know. Now I am sorry folks, but come on. You have lice in your facility and you don't know if you are going to clean everything? You don't know if the child is there and has been treated and is lice free? You aren't checking every child to be sure it hasn't been passed along? WTF? So I decided that right then and there the girls would not be going back. I let the ladies know that they would not be seing the girls the rest of the summer.....you know what? They looked and me and said "Really? Why not?" I just kept walking...
So now we are going to try and keep busy here at the house. Right now everyone is cleaning their rooms the way they are supposed to and then I have to figure out what to direct them to do that doesn't involve the tv or video games.

FRIDAY
Thank God It Is Friday!
Never have I been so glad to see a weekend arrive. It hasn't been a terrible week, but I am just glad it is over. I don't have to watch the girls very much this morning. The twins have a carnival at their day camp and Shay's dad is picking her up at 11 for her volleyball physical. So I should be able to hang out at home till at least 1:00. Hooooray!
Last night I made crock pot pork ribs with garlic mashed potatoes and sweet white corn. I think it went over fairly well. Tonight it is all about chipotle steaks and tater pockets on the grill and a big salad! I hope it turns out alright. I have been faithful to my new food journal which ruthlilycat very graciously provided me with. I have switched my primary physician and he says that this will be helpful in helping us figure out why I can't seem to lose weight normally.
I am hoping that saisha and abstrakone are doing well. We were talking on the phone last night and I lost the phone call. Please give us a heads up if you can so I know you are well.
Well I have to go see what the girls are doing...it's too quiet.
Words...
Not too much is going on. I can't believe I haven't posted since last Wednesday. This weekend, I watched Alexander. Not the best flick, but I like period epics, so I was entertained. Went grocery shopping with Mom and then made some fairly decent food for dinners over the weekend.
Steve took me out for dinner at Red Robin on Friday. I love that place. I dont think I have ever had bad service or bad food there. I finally turned in my paper work to my boss so I can start again in September. Let me tell you, I am getting pretty darned excited.
We went to a friends house on Saturday and had a fun time playing Scrabble and some yummy fruit and ice cream.
Today I brought the girls here and I am hanging out. It is nice to be in my house.
Not much else to day right now.
Hey Hey it is HUMPDAY!!!!
I watched my movie yesterday and boy was it good. If you like Bobby Darin at all, I definately give this a thumbs up. Dinner was soo very tasty last night, but I wasn't able to eat as many onion rings as I wanted. Damn my smaller stomach. (I know to look at me you can't tell its small...LOL) Tonight I am making Chicken Alfredo with salad and garlic toast. That should be fairly decent.
So who out there watches Big Brother? I know people may not like him, but Kaysar sure is handsome.
So Mom, Shayna and I went looking at furniture today. I want a whole new house of furniture, but I know that takes a decent amount of time. But I did find the new dining room I like and a couch that I think Steve will like. I am hoping to maybe get him out to the place this weekend to look at it so we can start considering the price in our budget. ( Read more... )
Hey! I'm here :)
I so am not good about updating. I read all of your journals and think to myself that I should say something, but then I never do. Like the fact that I have the pics from my California trip on my site, but haven't shared with you all yet. See what a tool I am?
I went to a wedding this weekend at The Empress Palace in Woodland. The place is just gorgeous. My old assistant director got married to one of the dads from the school. Such the fairy tale wedding they had. Although, on a slightly sour note, her family didn't really attend to her like they should have, (i.e. bustling her dress, getting her veil off etc.) which in turn frustrated me. For some reason I find myself very protective of her, so I would up helping her with stuff. Anyway, great wedding and great company.
Steve took me shopping this weekend and I felt like a princess myself. I got a whole new outfit for the wedding. I didn't realize that when I got rid of all my old clothes, that I had gotten rid of anything that I could wear as just a nice outfit. Oops, my bad. Got to be careful of that in the future. To go with my new outfit, I had my mom cut my hair from a mid back length to just below my collar. It wasn't the length I was orignally wanting, but it doesn't look bad at all. I colored to hide all the damn grey I have going on. So at least now I look a bit less haggered. The pic is on the camera, so I will post it once we have it off of the memory card.
I am in my last few weeks of watching the girls, and while I love them dearly, I am glad that this time will be over. I will be happy to go back to work. I need to get my paper work in to my director, and figure out what we can do about my class. Whoever has had it in the last year, has strip mined it of alot of pertinent equipment. I have my work cut out for me that is for sure.
Well, I am sure I should be saying something else, but my brain is being forgetful. I will post later if I forget.

Back from California
Mom and I had a great trip. The drive was nice and easy, we hit the speed limit, engaged cruise control and we were good to go. I know many people think us nuts for only going the speed limit, but why not? Why possibly get a ticket just because I don't want to follow the rules.
Disneyland was great as always. I am so happy we were there. The day started off at 4 am so we could be there early. What we didn't know till we got there was that they had let people in to DCA at midnight. Some 20,000 from what I had heard. We were given golden ears with the date on them. The events were very nice, with a dedication ceremony and the fireworks. I was hoping for a VIP parade like they had at the 25th celebration, but the day was special nonetheless. I will post pictures later this week.
I got to see some of my friends and was able to spend some time with Steve's family. I am glad to be home though. I will share more stories later, I just wanted to say hey to everyone. I am reading your journals individually so it will take me some time to get all caught up.
